Coming Home is a visual tribute to family bonds, cultural foundations, and good old fashioned nostalgia - highlighting all the sentimental parts of reuniting with loved ones and hometowns since Covid first hit in March of 2020. This photo series touches upon cultural identity as a child of immigrants growing up Filipino American in Southern California; focusing on the spaces and foods that remind me of adolescence, the landscapes that I miss when I'm away, and the details and personalities of the people I regularly spend time with when I return. There has been great loss because of Covid, but it has also presented me with a shift in perspective - and a greater appreciation for every chance I get to go home.

Amanda Villarosa is a Filipina American travel, lifestyle, and hospitality photographer born and raised in Los Angeles, with a decade of creative experience in New York. After many years working on creative staffs, Amanda went on to freelance, collaborating with brands and publications such as Condé Nast Traveler, Travel & Leisure, Facebook, and JCREW. Amanda pushes for representation in her projects, crews, and industry, as faces like hers and her family’s weren’t frequently seen growing up. Her work aims to embolden diverse individuals, showcase beautifully designed spaces, tell stories of destinations worldwide, and turn the everyday into something special.
Amanda is a new Denver resident, though splits much of her time between Los Angeles, New York, and abroad.
